At MEDCINVITRO, we specialize in providing scientific proof of the mechanisms of action and safety of cosmetic formulations and ingredients. Our studies apply in vitro cell cultures, ex vivo tissues and in chemico models to evaluate the efficacy and safety of actives and finished products, with a focus on proving mechanisms of action.

In Vitro and Ex Vivo Studies: Validating the Efficacy and Safety of Ingredients and Finished Products

The results we offer are accurate, robust and meet regulatory purposes, providing reliable support for medical-scientific communication. In addition, we provide tools for asset screening, comparison with benchmarks and support for attributes that are difficult to prove clinically. It is important to highlight that all the methods we use are alternative to the use of research animals, strictly following the 3Rs concept (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement).

Our wide range of experimental models such as sensitized, hyperglycated or aged skin, in addition to the diversity of cell cultures allows a comprehensive variety of studies, ranging from classic market claims such as antioxidant action, reduction of extracellular matrix degrading enzymes, stimulation of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production, to more sophisticated appeals such as improvement of skin well-being, protection of atopic skin, anti-glycating and anti-inflammaging effect, balance of the microbiome, among others.

Skin Hydration and Protection of the Skin Barrier:

   - Stimulation in the synthesis of natural moisturizing factors (NMFs).

   - Production of ceramides and strengthening of the skin's lipid mantle.

   - Improved hydration and skin barrier protection.

   - Recovery of the skin barrier.

   - Keratin production and epidermal differentiation.

   - Deep hydration of the skin.

   - Improvement of epidermal cohesion.

   - Skin renewal.

   - Prevention of oxidative damage to DNA.

   - Fighting free radicals.

   - Protection against lipid peroxidation.

   - Capillary antioxidant action.

   - Strengthening the body's antioxidant response.

   - Stimulation of antioxidant enzyme production.

   - Antioxidant and anti-pollution action.

Sensitive skin:

   - Soothes the skin.

   - Promotes reduction of itching and erythema.

   - Reduces skin sensitivity.

   - Improves skin's sense of comfort and well-being.

Acne and Oiliness:

   - Reduction of skin oiliness.

   - Decrease in acne inflammation.

   - Anti-comedogenic action.

Safety Assessment of Products and Ingredients:

Our alternative methodologies, free of experimental animals, are validated by regulatory bodies and accepted by Anvisa. We perform assessments of skin corrosion and irritation, in vitro phototoxicity, acute oral systemic toxicity, skin sensitization, eye corrosion and irritation, cytotoxicity in agar gel, among others.

Care for Ageing Skin:

   - Improvement of skin firmness and support.

   - Improvement of skin elasticity.

   - Strengthening of the extracellular matrix.

   - Stimulation of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production.

   - Protection of skin support fibers.

   - Anti-inflammaging action.

   - Anti-glycating effect.

Skin Microbiome:

   - Strengthening the skin's natural defense.

   - Balancing the skin microbiota.

   - Combating dysbiosis (atopic and seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea, sensitive skin).

   - Metagenomic studies.

Skin Whitening:

   - Reduction of melanin synthesis.

   - Control of tyrosinase activity.

   - Minimization of skin hypervascularization.

   - Modulation of the melanogenic transcription pathway.

   - Control of hormonal pigmentation

  - Balance of the hyperpigmenting inflammatory response.

Hair Health:

   - Anti-androgenic effect.

   - Prevention of hair loss.

   - Stimulation of hair growth.

   - Strengthening the anchorage of the hair bulb.

   - Prevention of hair aging.

   - Control of inflammation of the hair follicle.

   - Strengthening and recovery of the scalp.
